AFTERCARE SUPPORT
The Aftercare Program is designed to provide parents of Julian Youth Academy students with continuing assistance in the transition of their student back home. The return home for a student, who has lived under a very structured program for a period of time, becomes a critical time for the student. In order to make this transition as effective as possible, the Aftercare Program was developed to assist the parents and students have a successful return home. It is critical for you to fully participate. You will look back and be amazed at the difference if you are 100% committed to Aftercare.
One part of the Aftercare Program is the at-home level supervision. The student completes levels A-M while enrolled at Julian Youth Academy. Upon their return home, they will continue in a structured level system. The parents will supervise the progress through each level. The privileges and responsibilities of each level will be set up through discussion between the JCHS staff and the parents. As the students progress through each level, their progress is monitored by the parents and every two weeks a progress report is sent to Julian Youth Academy for evaluation and discussion with the parents. It is the responsibility of the parents to carefully monitor the student’s activities, friends, and whereabouts at all times.
The staff at JCHS provides support through regular contacts. Students and parents will be assigned a JCHS staff who will keep in regular contact. The staff will provide support, accountability, and guidance to the Aftercare students and their families through regular contact (at least once per month for local families) and bi-weekly phone calls.
The Aftercare Program also offers monthly updates and responses on the progress of the students. There are various forms and checklists that will be completed by the parents and the student as the student approaches the completion of the on-campus portion of the program, and as she then progresses through the Aftercare program at home. These forms help the student and parents plan and prepare for the student’s return home, and will also help the student adjust back to the home environment once she does return home. This part of the Aftercare Program is mandatory. It is written as part of the contract the parents sign when their child is enrolled in JCHS. The Aftercare Program lasts 6 months. The cost of the Aftercare Program is included in the cost of the program.
Through the Aftercare Program, we will provide the following:
